As part of the ELLA Learning Alliance on Climate Resilient Cities, 2 experts on Urban Climate Resilience and Disaster Risk Management were invited to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to take part in the ELLA study tour in May 2013. During this study tour the participants visited the cities of Xerém, Teresópolis and Rio de Janeiro. State and city level representatives of the Civil Defence accompanied the tour members and showed many of the strategies in place to reduce urban disaster risk.
