Sustainable Cities: #COP26 Dialogues| Climate Action | United Nations
Cities and towns across the globe are facing – and fighting – climate change. Home to 4.5 billion people today, they are projected to grow by almost 50 percent by 2050. They are engines of growth and innovation, generating 80 percent of global GDP along with 70 percent of global carbon emissions, and they are struggling to respond to the pandemic and prepare for the accelerating impacts of climate change.
Moderator: Robert Skinner, Chief, Partnerships and Global Engagement.
Guests: Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Executive Director, UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT); and Penny Abeywardena, Commissioner for International Affairs, New York City.
COP26 Dialogues at the SDG Studio in New York feature a series of conversations with UN leaders, experts, advocates and influencers on the nexus between the Sustainable Development Goals and the key areas of climate action and solutions being advanced at the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.
