Sadhguru Climate Change “2.4 Billion Trees” Greening of India
“Greening of India” by Sadhguru refers to a nationwide effort to increase India’s forest cover and promote environmental conservation. Sadhguru, a spiritual leader and founder of the Isha Foundation, has been actively promoting tree plantation drives across the country to achieve this goal.
In 2017, Sadhguru launched a campaign called “Rally for Rivers” with the aim of revitalising India’s depleting rivers through afforestation. As a part of this campaign, the Isha Foundation and its volunteers have been planting saplings of indigenous tree species along the banks of rivers and other water bodies. The campaign has also emphasised the need for water conservation and sustainable agriculture practices.
In 2019, Sadhguru announced a new initiative called “Cauvery Calling” to address the water crisis in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The initiative aims to plant 2.4 billion trees in the Cauvery river basin over the next 12 years to increase the river’s flow and improve the groundwater levels in the region.
Overall, Sadhguru’s efforts to promote tree plantation and environmental conservation have garnered significant support and attention across India, and have contributed to the country’s ongoing efforts to combat climate change and protect its natural resources.
