In St. John’s., Siobhan Coady, Newfoundland and Labrador’s minister of finance, delivers the provincial budget speech in the House of Assembly. Among other measures, the government plans to invest $3.9 billion in health care, more than a third of the $9.8 billion in total budget spending. The province also projects a deficit of $160 million for 2023-2024 and aims to balance the budget in the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
