On 05 May 2020, Prof. Dr. Sascha Roesler held a lecture on «Urban Climate» via Zoom.

On the Lecture
Wicked Problems in Architecture – Urban Climate as Case Study
Architecture and its theory are increasingly challenged by new types of complex problems, which might be termed, following a notion of Horst Rittel and Melvin Webber, as “wicked” ones. Referring to the chair’s current research project, exploring design-based approaches to urban climates, different aspects of wicked problems shall be discussed and some implications for a contemporary architectural theory addressed.

Every semester, the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA) of ETH Zurich invites three leading figures from the fields of architecture and construction to contribute to interdisciplinary discussions on the construction of the future and on societal issues such as digitalization, resource efficiency and energy transition.
