Until I spent a year visiting my Wife’s farm in India, I had no idea about our farming family’s work.
When I first arrived at the farm, I couldn’t believe that their fields, which just looked like sand, could grow anything. But what did I know about farming? Not much! I’m just a city slicker.
I went back to the farm in the Churu District of Rajasthan months later to find the fields alive with mustard (सरसों) and chickpeas (चने)! I returned again in the monsoon to see grain (बाजरा), lentils, and pulses growing too.
I couldn’t believe it.
It showed how little I knew and how much I had to learn from my Wife’s family in the village.
Farmers, villages, and villagers are the heart of India, and we have a lot to learn about pure living and hard work from them.
