How Urban Farming Turned a Jeweler into a Social Entrepreneur | Common Room PH
In this Meet the Maker episode, find out how urban farming turned a jeweler into a social entrepreneur. When the pandemic happened, Louie Gutierrez, who has built Silverworks to 70 stores and 500-strong employees for more than 30 years, turned his attention to urban farming in their Makati neighborhood. Together with his wife, Maye, they gave birth to the Urban Farmers which manage the BGC Urban Farm. They share how the urban farming business is more of a social entrepreneurship that enables them to focus more on the impact they have on their community.
Common Room PH is a
collaborative space for artists and makers in the Philippines. Our physical
stores provide a venue for local creatives to showcase their handcrafted
products and original artworks. Our web store and digital platform on YouTube
enable our community to reach more, not only through their products, but also
through their stories. Our hope is that whether online or offline, these venues
provide a home and a safe space for creatives to express themselves, support
each other, grow together, and empower others to make with their hands.
