In this video, you will learn about a local urban farm that uses hydroponics to help provide nutritious plant-based foods to people in food deserts in Dallas. These same areas were the hardest hit during the coronavirus pandemic. And even in the midst of this pandemic, Big Tex Urban Farms continued to feed its community.
Meet Drew Demler! He is the director of the horticulture program at the Texas State Fair. Since 2016, he has developed an intricate variety of systems to mass produce fresh and nutritious plant-based foods for these food deserts.
