EUSEW2023 | Strengthening energy efficiency for the clean energy transition and energy independence
The speakers present and debate the latest results of the Energy Efficiency Financial Institutions Group (EEFIG) working groups. It is the final event of EEFIG and makes the bridge with the upcoming Energy Efficiency Financing Coalition. Energy efficiency (EE) plays a crucial role in meeting the 2030 and 2050 energy and climate targets. At the same time, the investment gaps for EE measures in the building stock, small and medium-sized enterprises and industry are estimated to be in the order of EUR 300 billion per year to reach EU energy and climate objectives in 2030. Bridging this investment gap will require public and private financial institutions to implement the Energy Efficiency First principle across core banking and investment activities.
