Environmental and Climate Justice in Beacon Hill

Boston’s location along the coast poses major threats as climate change continues to impact rising sea levels and coastal tides. But what is often overlooked is the further effects climate change will have on not just the physical attributes of the city but the people who are connected to Boston as well.

Extreme weather patterns have played a factor in the adaptation of Boston’s rich cultural history. The impacts these weather patterns have ultimately affect the people who live and visit Boston’s multitude of diverse communities.

For this session we will be focusing in on Beacon Hill, the home of Boston’s Black Heritage Trail. Using the Climate Ready Boston map, we will be addressing the effects climate change will have on the sites and people in this neighborhood. Additionally, we will be acknowledging the disparities through time this neighborhood has faced.
