🌿🎉 Join us for a one-of-a-kind Summer celebration honoring healthy food, urban gardening, and Detroit’s Legacy Black Community at the inaugural Collard Green Cook-Off presented by Detroit is Different! This exciting event will take place on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 4 pm to 9 pm at the Detroit is Different Garden located at 1634 Clements, Detroit, MI 48238.

🍃 The Collard Green Cook-Off will feature five dynamic chefs showcasing their culinary skills using collard greens sourced from Detroit’s vibrant urban gardens. For our vegan and vegetarian guests, there will be delectable vegan collard greens to savor and enjoy.

👩‍🍳 The panel of esteemed judges includes Build Institute’s CEO, Regina Ann-Campbell, who is thrilled to be part of this event. Joining her are Comedian Coco, Tepfirah Rushdan from Keep Growing Detroit, and Brittany March from itsFoodDetroit, making sure the competition is fierce and fun!

🎤 Get ready for some fantastic blues performances by Detroit’s very own queen of Blues, Thornetta Davis, and the talented Arise Detroit founder, Luther ‘Bad Man’ Keith. Their soulful tunes will add to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

🎙️ Detroit is Different’s very own podcasters Piper Carter and Comedian T Barb will be broadcasting live with special guests from the Detroit Black Land Farmer Fund. Erin Bevel from Detroit Black Food Security Community Network, Jerry Hebron from Oakland Avenue Farm, and Shakara Tyler from Detroit People’s Food Co-Op will share their insights on the local food scene and more.

🎊 The Cook-Off contest will be hosted by the hilarious Comedian Mic Larry, promising a barrel of laughs and entertainment throughout the event.
