In this video, Hawo Mohamed Aarale tells us of how her family is disintegrated as most of her children choose to move to urban settlements for alternative livelihoods since pastoralism can longer support them. Adeso in partnership with CARE International and Puntland’s Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism (MoEWT), through Your Environment is Your Life project is helping the community in Somalia to mitigate these effects through sound environmental practices. The initiative funded by the European Union (EU) MDG Initiative for Somalia, seeks to reduce hunger and food insecurity by improving rangeland conditions in the Puntland State of Somalia.
