Cities and climate change
Cities are critical in dealing with climate change. Social sciences have provided important insights into cities and how they work — looking at housing, energy, transport, infrastructure, climate and the interplay of people and policies.
In this ‘Planet and people’ video Professor Harriet Bulkeley shows how the Urban Transitions project has mapped out what cities around the globe are doing to respond to climate change, pointing to how we can reduce emissions and strengthen resilience.
Climate change could have a big effect on cities across the world and cities may have to respond to changes in climate accordingly.
