A Call for Integrated Urban Solutions to Climate Change, Biodiversity Loss and Social Inequality
More than 20 cities have signed onto the “São Paulo Statement on Urban Sustainability” announced at the “Catalyzing Sustainable Urban Futures” conference in São Paulo, Brazil on September 18, 2019. Together, cities call for urgent action and greater investment in climate-smart, integrated solutions for building inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities for all.
Organized by the World Bank’s Global Platform for Sustainable Cities (GPSC) in partnership with São Paulo City Hall and Brazil’s Sustainable Cities Program with the support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the conference was also known as the 3rd Global Meeting of the GPSC and the 2nd Brazil International Conference on Sustainable Cities.
