3rd APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC III) Meeting 07/28/2023
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. serves as the guest of honor and keynote speaker in the opening ceremony of the 3rd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (ABAC III) Meeting at the NUSTAR Convention Center in Cebu City on July 28, 2023.
Hosted by the Philippines from 27-30 July 2023, the ABAC III Meeting carries the theme, ‘Equity, Sustainability and Opportunity’.
Top business leaders from the 21 APEC Economies will be discussing ABAC’s approved 2023 Work Program and will be highlighting several issues such as economic integration, sustainable growth, financial services, inclusion, digitalization and innovation.
Comprising the Philippine delegation to the 2023 ABAC III Meeting are Tomas Alcantara, Chair of ABAC Philippines, along with ABAC Philippines Members Sabin Aboitiz (Convenor, Private Sector Advisory Council [PSAC]), Joanne de Asis, Francis Chua and Guillermo Luz.
They will be raising key issues that are significant to the Philippines, particularly energy security, food security, climate change, digitalization and innovation especially on education and the future of work.
Today’s ABAC is the first international event within its borders since reopening after the pandemic.
Established in November 1995, the ABAC is the private sector arm of APEC. Its main mandate is to advice leaders and other APEC officials on issues of interest to business, presents recommendations to APEC Leaders in an annual dialogue, and advises APEC officials on business sector priorities and concerns.
