കടുത്ത വേനൽ ചൂടിൽ കൃഷി ഉൾപ്പെടെ പല മേഖലകളും ‘പൊള്ളും’

Heat wave and El Nino scare is burning Kerala like other parts of the country.

Many people say that they cannot go out after burning their bodies. Meteorological experts and meteorological department say that there is a possibility of summer rain in the state in mid-March. The highest temperature since 1901 was recorded in various parts of the country in February last year.

How will this weather affect each Meghalaya?

1. Agricultural sector

It is certain that the heat wave in various parts of the country will affect the yield of wheat and small grains to a large extent.
A reduction in the yield of agricultural products will create a heavy blow in the rural areas. It will tighten export controls. With that, food exports will decrease. The cost of importing food products will also increase. 50 percent of the country’s agriculture is rain-fed. Two-thirds of the country’s total population still depends on agriculture.

In the next three months, there will be an increase in the prices of food products such as fruits, vegetables, milk production and meat trade.

The existence of farmers in Kerala is also under threat. Spice farmers will also have to face a lot of problems. It will also spread in coffee, pepper and cardamom sector. Farmers also point out that if they don’t water for a day, everything planted will be burnt.

Manufacturing.

There is a power crisis
Hit the manufacturing sector the most. Currently, half of Kerala’s electricity for domestic use is procured from outside. Power cuts and load shedding are likely, although officials say there may be no restrictions on power supply. Harsh summers will lead to severe energy shortages across India. We are now observing that the shortage of coal will have a negative impact on power generation and the manufacturing sector in the country.

Tourism

The attractiveness of the waterfalls and greenery in tourism centers like Athirapilli and Vazhachal has already suffered in February. Similar is the situation of many tourism centers. With extreme heat and concerns about clean water, families are thinking about skipping summer vacations.

Real estate

Those in the field point out that restrictions on outside work from 11 am to 3 pm, non-availability of water for construction activities, and electricity restrictions will create problems in the construction sector for the next three months.

Climate change has far-reaching effects on real estate. After the flood, even the places that were put up for sale in our countryside had the banner of flood-proof land. The banner of Bhumi, which does not dry up in extreme heat and gets some water, will also come. Future projects will be attractive only if uninterrupted electricity, wind, light, clean water and atmosphere are provided. A builder in Kerala points out that this will increase the cost of the builders and cost the houses.

5. Trade sector

Trade will decrease and costs will increase. This is the crisis facing the business sector. Although the sales of air conditioners and fans will increase, the economic crisis in the rural and agricultural sectors will affect the business sector. Opening of schools and scrambling for children’s higher education is a common sight in the average household during the months of March, April and May.

Forest fire, fire

Fire has become a common occurrence in many places in Kerala. There are reports that more than 100 acres of forest area has caught fire in the Chimney forest area of Thrissur district alone. It’s just that forest fires are not discussed much in the mainstream as the heat and smoke of Kochi’s Garbage Hill fire are in the news. Meanwhile, fires and tragedies are recurring in firecracker factories targeting Vishu, Easter and festival markets.

If there is a reduction in the income of people in rural areas, it will reflect in the business sector. It is a factor that significantly influences the tax collection of the government. Having to buy power from outside for a higher amount will cause financial burden.
